Oman cannot unilaterally set and implement rules for ship transits through the Strait of Hormuz without coordinating with Tehran because the two countries have a joint security arrangement in the waterway, Iranian lawmaker Ali Khezrian said.
“The two countries agreed in a joint statement issued during Sultan Qaboos’s visit to Tehran on March 7, 1974, to pursue security cooperation in the Strait of Hormuz instead of delimiting their boundaries,” said Khezrian, a member of parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee.
