Iran’s Executive Vice President Mohammad Jafar Ghaempanah said Iran could not import gasoline because of the US naval blockade and warned that the current fuel situation could not continue, the state-run IRNA news agency reported Wednesday.
“Continuing on this path is impossible,” Ghaempanah said, adding that domestic gasoline production was insufficient and that “with the US naval blockade, we cannot import gasoline.”
He also said the Iran-US memorandum should be pursued “with military power” to bring it to fruition.
Ghaempanah said a joint statement reached with Oman on Tuesday, under the direction of the Supreme National Security Council, required ships to use the route specified in the memorandum and not cross through Oman’s southern boundary.
