'Tehran says Persian media abroad could be military targets'

Iranian armed forces senior spokesman Abolfazl Shekarchi said Iran International, BBC and Radio Farda could be included in Iran’s “bank of military targets,” the semi-official Mehr news agency reported.

“We do not view these news organizations as media,” Shekarchi said. “Those who work in these media are considered soldiers of Zionism and criminal America, and they can even be included in the bank of military targets.”

He accused Iran International, BBC and Radio Farda of being directly connected to Mossad, the CIA and other intelligence agencies and receiving guidance and support from them. He provided no evidence for the allegations.

Shekarchi also accused the outlets of promoting violence and said Iranian media should expand efforts to reach audiences beyond Persian speakers.
