The United States has paused immigrant visa applications worldwide while consular officers undergo additional training aimed at identifying applicants likely to rely on US public benefits, the Financial Times reported, citing the US State Department.
Applicants with scheduled interviews at US embassies and consulates have reportedly been told their appointments will be rescheduled. The department did not say when visa processing would resume.
The US was previously reported to be considering revoking up to 200,000 visas.
