Iran’s Persian Gulf waterway management authority warned shipowners that some charterers were forcing vessels to use unauthorized routes, saying violations could lead to restrictions on future passage through the Strait of Hormuz, according to a statement carried by state media.
The authority said it had received reports that some charterers were directing vessels along routes it considers invalid, creating risks to ships, owners, captains and crews.
It warned that vessels using such routes could face “serious restrictions” on subsequent passage through the strait.
