British counter-terrorism police are investigating whether Iran is linked to a suspected plot targeting RAF Fairford, a US-used airbase in southwest England, Sky News reported Sunday.
Five men have been arrested on suspicion of preparing a terrorist act and offences under the Explosives Act. Around 85 households near the base have been evacuated as bomb disposal specialists examine vehicles found near the site.
US President Donald Trump earlier said the suspects had been seeking to cause “big damage” to the base and praised cooperation between US and British authorities.
