Iran’s Bank Sepah branch in Rome has been under extraordinary administration since October 2025 following European Union restrictive measures against Iran, and the procedure remains in effect, the Bank of Italy told Iran International.
Giovanni Mottura was appointed extraordinary commissioner, temporarily taking management of the branch alongside a three-member supervisory committee.
The measure took effect on October 3, while the branch remains under the Bank of Italy’s ordinary banking supervision.
Official documents do not indicate that the branch has closed or completely suspended banking operations.
