An Iranian national was sentenced Friday to 18 months in prison for a scheme to ship US military sonar technology to Iran through China in violation of US sanctions, the US Justice Department said.
Reza Dindar, 44, also known as Renda Dindar, pleaded guilty in June to two counts of exporting goods to an embargoed country and two counts of smuggling goods from the US. Prosecutors said he managed New Port Sourcing Solutions in Xi’an, China, which concealed that it was procuring US goods for Iranian companies.
Dindar and his co-conspirators used deception in 2011 and 2012 to purchase parts for three military sonar systems from a US company, falsely claiming they were destined for China. He was indicted in 2014, arrested in Panama in July 2025 and extradited to the US in April 2026.
