Israel’s UN Ambassador Danny Danon posted footage of himself offering a Starlink satellite internet device to an Iranian diplomat at the UN General Assembly on Thursday.
“Take it with you to Tehran, it can be very useful for you,” Danon said. The Iranian diplomat ignored him and did not accept the device.
The device was the same one Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had displayed during his UN address earlier Thursday. Netanyahu said Starlink could help Iranians bypass internet censorship and that he would leave it for Iranian diplomats to use if they defected.
The Iranian diplomat, identified as Nasser Asadi, a member of Iran’s UN mission, had also remained seated during US President Donald Trump’s address on Tuesday after other members of the Iranian delegation walked out in protest.
