'Macron denies CIA warning of possible Russian attack'

 French President Emmanuel Macron on Thursday rejected reports that the CIA had warned France of a possible Russian drone attack targeting southern Europe, saying French intelligence had received no such alert.

"We can deny this information. The CIA did not inform the French intelligence services" of such a possibility, Macron said during an interview with TF1 and France 2. He nevertheless warned that the situation was concerning and such attacks "could happen."

His remarks echoed Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto, who, hours earlier, said reports of potential Russian attacks on Italy, Spain and France "find no confirmation" and urged against adding "fuel to the fire." The claims were reported by Spain’s El Mundo, which cited US intelligence and Lithuanian sources on possible sea-launched Russian Gerbera drones targeting Mediterranean countries.
