Crude oil prices for front-month deliveries climbed Friday after US lawmakers introduced a bipartisan bill to block the energy deal with Moscow while urging President Donald Trump to impose sanctions on energy from Russia.
The bill was introduced just two days before the Trump administration's deadline to implement provisions of the Lindsey Graham Act targeting Russia, putting pressure on the administration to decide which key measures, sanctions, and tariffs to formally impose on Moscow.
Brent for December contracts jumped 2.97% to $1089.46 a barrel at 12:35 pm ET. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) for November deliveries gained 2.55% to $100.75 per barrel.
