'Axios: US said to expect Hamas disarmament deal within days'

 The White House and United States President Donald Trump's Board of Peace believe that Hamas could sign a deal within days to disarm and demilitarize the Gaza Strip, Axios' Global Affairs Correspondent Barak Ravid reported on Thursday, citing four sources familiar with the matter.

"We think we have succeeded in bringing Hamas to a position where it can no longer say 'no,'" one of the sources reportedly said, noting that the Trump administration and the Board of Peace have been focused on "drying up" Hamas' sources of funding in recent months.

According to the report, several mediators, including Qatar, Turkey, and particularly Egypt, are pressuring Hamas to sign the agreement, with the head of Egyptian intelligence, Hassan Rashad, reportedly leading the current round of talks with Hamas' new leader, Khalil al-Haya. Meanwhile, Iran is said to be putting pressure on Hamas not to sign the deal and to "bide its time."
