Novo Nordisk shares plunge after ZEUS setback

Novo Nordisk shares fell more than 11% on Friday after the Danish drugmaker said its Phase 3 ZEUS trial failed to show that ziltivekimab reduced major adverse cardiovascular events in people with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease, and inflammation.

"While ziltivekimab did not achieve the MACE benefit we had hoped for, this does not change our strategic commitment to cardiovascular disease," said Martin Holst Lange, executive vice president, chief scientific officer, and head of Research and Development at Novo Nordisk. He added that the findings would inform the company's ongoing cardiovascular research and development efforts.

At 1:47 pm CEST, Novo Nordisk shares traded 11.02% lower at 298 Danish kroner on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange.
