Russia is providing Iran with electronic intelligence, including satellite surveillance and signals intelligence, that could help Tehran defend against US airstrikes and improve the accuracy of its own attacks, NBC News reported on Friday, citing US and European officials familiar with the matter.
The intelligence assistance is believed to be helping Iran better identify US forces during aerial operations and potentially disrupt US-made weapons systems, according to the officials cited by NBC News.
The report said Russian satellite data and signals intelligence are giving Tehran additional capabilities to protect its assets and improve the precision of drone and missile attacks as the conflict with the United States continues.
A US official and a European official familiar with the intelligence told NBC News that Moscow had provided Iran with electronic intelligence. The development follows earlier reports that Russia had shared information about the location of US forces in the Middle East.
