Sanchez: Ceuta surge 'violation' of Spain's sovereignty

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez denounced on Friday the migratory crisis in the Spanish North African enclave of Ceuta, calling it an "attack and violation" of Spain's territorial integrity and sovereignty.

At a press conference in Ceuta, Sanchez stressed that the Spanish government will use "all of the state's resources and tools to guarantee the safety of the citizens of Ceuta," and declared that, as of yesterday, the procedure for returning migrants who entered the city using irregular routes had been accelerated.

Furthermore, the country's Interior Ministry confirmed that 50,000 people entered Spain illegally, after Spanish authorities previously stated that approximately 49,000 people entered the enclave in 24 hours, with some reports claiming that the figure exceeded 60,000. The ministry also announced that approximately 25,000 people have voluntarily returned to Morocco throughout the day.
