'NYT: Musk said to spend up to $120M on US midterms'

The world's richest man, Elon Musk, has authorized his super political action committee (PAC) to spend between $100 million and $120 million on a program in at least eight states to help Republican candidates in this year's midterm elections in the United States, the New York Times reported on Thursday, citing people familiar with the matter.

According to the report, the billionaire, whose wealth currently stands at around $708 billion, is planning to initially focus on Senate races in Alaska, Iowa, Maine, Michigan and Ohio, and is in talks about the contests in North Carolina, Georgia and Texas

In January, reports emerged that Musk donated $10 million to a PAC backing Nate Morris, a pro-Trump Republican who had been running for the Kentucky Senate seat, but later pulled out of the race after being nominated for the role of US ambassador to Colombia.
