Iranian lawmaker Hakem Mamakan said the Strait of Hormuz was a tool Tehran could use to put pressure on the regional and global economy, adding that the waterway would not return to its pre-war status even if sanctions were lifted.
"The Strait of Hormuz is a tool in Iran's hands to disrupt the economic system of the region and the world, because they are disrupting our economic system," Mamakan, a member of parliament's economic commission, told Didban Iran.
"I believe the Strait of Hormuz will never return to its previous state," he added, saying any future return to normal shipping should remain under Iranian control and supervision.
