Lebanon will seek to expand the pilot zones to include the heavily bombarded border town of Bint Jbeil during the next round of negotiations with Israel, scheduled to take place in Rome on August 4, Saudi broadcaster Al Hadath reported on Saturday, citing a Lebanese official.
Beirut is also expected to reject unilateral Israeli verification of the first phase and demand that an independent party oversee all monitoring. Bint Jbeil is the second-largest municipality in the Nabatiye Governorate in Lebanon's south, and served as a major Hezbollah stronghold.
