The Israeli Defense Ministry will launch domestic production of precision-guided "smart bombs" for the Air Force, including JDAM-style munitions, N12 News Israel reported Wednesday.
The move is aimed at ensuring a steady domestic supply of munitions for the Air Force as tensions in the region continue to grow.
Earlier this year, Israel's Defense Ministry awarded Elbit Systems a multi-year contract worth roughly 600 million shekels ($200 million) to ramp up production of advanced aerial munitions.
