The Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces said on Thursday that it has commenced "military aviation operations" to secure the country's airspace amid Russia's attack on Ukraine.
The statement said "necessary forces and resources" have been activated and that "ground-based air defense systems and radar reconnaissance have reached a state of readiness." It also noted that the move is "of a preventive nature" and aimed at "securing airspace and its protection, especially in areas adjacent to threatened regions."
Ukraine reported at least two deaths and six injuries in Russia's overnight attack on Kyiv.
