Wildfires trigger statewide emergency in Washington

 Washington Governor Bob Ferguson declared a statewide emergency as massive wildfires engulfed the Evergreen State.

"Our record-setting drought and high winds are creating dangerous conditions across the state," Ferguson said in a statement. Several large fires broke out near Spokane in eastern Washington and have since spread to other areas. The Washington National Guard has mobilized to assist with the situation.

The authorities expanded the evacuation order in Northwest Spokane, urging residents to leave immediately.
