Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky dismissed Olga Stefanishyna [pictured] as the country's ambassador to the United States, according to a presidential decree published on Monday.
According to the document filed under 696/2026, the Ukrainian leader ordered: "to dismiss Olga Vitaliivna Stefanishyna from the post of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the United States of America." No further explanation was provided in the document. Stefanishyna served as ambassador to the US since August 2025. She came into the position from her previous post as Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration.
The now-former envoy recently told Ukrainian media that the Ukrainian president did not ask her to resign, adding "in fact he does not want me to leave." Zelensky's decision comes amid a lull in Kyiv's hopes to acquire Patriot system production capability, as US President Donald Trump recently opposed the idea.
