'Erdogan accuses Israel of sabotaging Iran-US MoU, fueling regional war'

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Monday accused Israel of triggering the current Middle East war and sabotaging the Islamabad framework agreement intended to help bring the Iran-US conflict to an end.

“The bill for the war that began with Israel’s schemes and provocations is being paid not only by the Iranian people, not only by our brotherly [Persian] Gulf countries, but by everyone, whether involved or not,” Erdogan said.

He said Israel had also undermined the June Islamabad accord, which was intended to provide a framework for ending the conflict. “Once again, it is Israel’s lies and sabotage that have rendered ineffective the Islamabad accord, which brought relief to our entire region.”

He added that regional instability would continue as long as what he described as a “radical mindset” viewed even the prospect of peace as a threat.
