Qatar is working to “phase” the regional crisis out rather than seek an end, Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed Al-Ansari told CNN, saying Doha wants conditions for a sustainable settlement rather than a temporary freeze.
Al-Ansari said Qatar’s immediate priorities were keeping the Strait open, easing economic pressure across the region and preventing further military escalation, including attacks on Iran and missiles hitting Persian Gulf residential areas.
He said sanctions had failed to produce lasting solutions and argued the conflict could only be resolved through negotiations. Al-Ansari also warned that disruption to major waterways risked worsening inflation, energy insecurity and food shortages.
