Iran says it proposed temporary Hormuz shipping arrangement with Oman

Iran proposed talks with Oman on a temporary shipping route through the Strait of Hormuz, Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said Tuesday in an interview broadcast on state television.

Under Tehran’s proposal, Iran would fully control the inbound route and part of the outbound route, while Oman would manage traffic in the opposite direction.

Gharibabadi said Oman had suggested a 50-50 arrangement, but Tehran rejected it as insufficient to address Iran’s concerns.
