European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas urged Iran to halt military support for Russia during a phone call with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
Kallas said Ukraine has the right to defend itself as Russian attacks cause more civilian casualties. "Moscow is inflicting ever higher numbers of civilian casualties in Ukraine, and any supplies it receives are helping it kill more civilians," she claimed. Kallas also said the pause in Gulf fighting could give mediators room to revive diplomacy and prevent another full-scale war.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry said earlier that the call covered regional and international developments.
