Pfizer (NYSE:PFE) will share part of any additional revenue generated from higher drug prices overseas with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, according to a Sept. 19 report.
The provision is included in Pfizer's most-favored-nation drug-pricing agreement with the U.S. government and applies to medicines already on the market. The arrangement runs from Jan. 1, 2026, through Jan. 20, 2029, according to documents released by Public Citizen after a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit.
The documents do not disclose the percentage of revenue Pfizer would share, which medicines are covered or several other financial terms. Public Citizen also released records from an agreement involving Eli Lilly, while agreements with more than two dozen other drugmakers remain confidential.
The disclosure adds detail to the administration's effort to align U.S. drug costs with prices in other developed markets. Pfizer previously said its agreement would lower costs for U.S. patients while supporting investment in domestic research and manufacturing.
