California Governor Gavin Newsom said on Saturday that he signed a new bill to prevent the military forces of other American states from entering California without authorization from the state governor.
"I just enacted a new law PROHIBITING other state militaries from entering California unless they have EXPLICIT permission from the Governor. California will defend the rights of the nearly 40 million people who call our state home," Newsom said in a post on X.
California Senate Bill 1354, authored by United States Senator Bob Archuleta, gives the California governor and commander in chief of California's militia the authority to decide when out-of-state military forces are allowed to enter California for state missions.
