Several United States Embassies issued security alerts across Iraq, Bahrain, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Qatar, Lebanon, Kuwait and Jordan, as Middle East tensions create a complex security environment.
US diplomatic missions in the nine countries stated that "the security environment remains complex with the potential for unforeseen escalation," adding that "Americans currently in the Middle East should exercise heightened vigilance and be aware of potential flight cancellations, airspace closures, and travel disruptions."
Americans were advised to monitor airline operations, avoid large gatherings and demonstrations, and follow instructions from local authorities.
