Air defenses shot down a drone near Erbil International Airport in Iraq’s Kurdistan Region on Sunday, Reuters reported, citing security sources.
Separately, AFP reported that an explosion was heard near a US-led coalition base close to the airport and that gray smoke was visible in the area. The cause of the explosion was not immediately known.
Iranian state media also cited reports of a drone strike near the airport.
