BioMarin raises 2026 revenue guidance to $3.825–$3.925B (~20% growth) after closing Amicus deal

  • 2026 revenue guidance raised to $3.825–$3.925B, ~20% YoY growth, driven by Amicus’ Galafold and Pombiliti + Opfolda.
  • Non-GAAP EPS guidance for 2026 is $4.85–$5.05, with Amicus slightly dilutive in 2026, strongly accretive from 2027.
  • Over 55% of 2026 revenue and roughly two‑thirds of EPS are now expected in 2H26, making guidance back-half weighted.
  • Enzyme therapies 2026 guidance lifted to $2.725–$2.775B, ~30% growth including Amicus.
  • Q1 2026 non-GAAP EPS was $0.54, down 43% YoY, missing EPS while $766M revenue beat for the period.
  • Q1 2026 adjusted/non-GAAP EPS was $0.76 vs $0.94 consensus, pressured by $31M NAGLAZYME charge and Amicus pre-close costs.
  • Q1 2026 revenue grew 3% YoY to $766M, the lightest quarter due to order timing.
  • Enzyme therapies revenue grew 6% YoY, led by VIMIZIM, NAGLAZYME and BRINEURA demand.
  • VOXZOGO patients treated rose >20% YoY, though revenue was muted by Q4–Q1 stocking dynamics.
  • Long-term VOXZOGO treatment improved arm span and overall growth in children with achondroplasia, and positive hypochondroplasia findings support potential beyond achondroplasia.
  • Company reaffirmed plans to report Phase 3 hypochondroplasia topline data in 1H 2026.
  • Key near-term catalysts include Q2 pivotal VOXZOGO data in hypochondroplasia and BMN 401.
  • BioMarin plans to seek hypochondroplasia regulatory approvals in 2H 2026 if Phase 3 VOXZOGO results are positive.
  • Main risks and concerns center on VOXZOGO competition/IP litigation and executing Amicus integration and the 2H‑weighted growth plan.
  • Quarter viewed as mixed, with solid underlying demand and upgraded 2026 outlook offset by one-time costs and back-half-heavy guidance.

Pezeshkian said to clash with IRGC over UAE strikes

According to the information, President Masoud Pezeshkian has expressed strong anger at actions by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, describing missile and drone strikes on the United Arab Emirates as “completely irresponsible” and carried out without the government’s knowledge or coordination.

Pezeshkian is also said to have called the approach of escalating tensions with regional countries “madness,” warning of potentially irreversible consequences.

The claims, which could not be independently verified, point to growing friction at the top of Iran’s political and military establishment as the conflict intensifies.

US destroyers transit Hormuz after Iranian barrage - CBS

Two US Navy destroyers transited the Strait of Hormuz and entered the Persian Gulf after facing what US officials described as a coordinated Iranian barrage, according to CBS News.

The USS Truxtun and the USS Mason were supported by Apache helicopters and other aircraft during the passage, defense officials said.

Iranian forces launched small boats, missiles and drones in what officials described as a sustained attack.

Despite the intensity of the encounter, neither vessel was struck, according to the officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Hormuz Closure 'Inflicting Enormous Impact' On Asia: Japan's PM Takaichi

The closure of the Strait of Hormuz is "inflicting enormous impact" on the Asia-Pacific region, Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi said Monday in somewhat dramatic remarks before the press.

Takaichi's words were issued from Canberra, on the occasion of Japan having signed agreements with Australia on critical minerals, energy security, and defense cooperation amid high-level talks with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. Albanese in turn endorsed her assessment, stating: "Today, (we are) again facing an energy shock and global instability... Our partnership helps us secure the energy we both need."

Takaichi also said in reference to the Strait of Hormuz, "We affirmed that Japan and Australia will closely communicate with each other in responding with a sense of urgency."

According to more:

Australia provides approximately one-third of Japan’s energy supplies and is the country’s largest market for liquefied natural gas. Both Canberra and Tokyo have been trying to shore up energy supplies due to the Iran war.

"Like Japan, we are very concerned by disruptions to the supply of liquid fuels and refined petroleum products," Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said.

“In a complex strategic environment, cooperation between Australia and Japan is essential to maintaining a peaceful, stable and prosperous region," Albanese additionally said. "Enhanced defense and security cooperation between Australia and Japan increases interoperability between our defense forces, ensuring Australia and Japan can work closely together to support regional peace and security."

Tokyo and Canberra finalized a $7 billion defense agreement just last month, and a central part of this involves Japan supplying Australia with 11 warships.

China has also suffered negative impact of its Iranian oil flows being blocked; however, Beijing is arguably in a better position to weather the storm when compared to the impact to US allies in the region.

One recent op-ed in The American Conservative argued that "While China is to some extent dependent on Gulf oil, so is the rest of Asia. While the United States might be insulated from some of the worst consequences of the Hormuz closure, the economies of our Asian allies are not."

It continued, "Asian economies are among the most dependent on Middle Eastern oil, with South Korea receiving around 70 percent and Japan receiving a whopping 95 percent of their oil from the Middle East," and observed that "The Council on Foreign Relations notes that in 2024, 84 percent of the oil and 83 percent of LNG shipped through Hormuz were bound for Asia." The analysis concluded: "That is not a targeted squeeze. Instead, such a move looks to be made without much heed to Asia at all, hitting the very states Washington is supposedly positioning against Beijing."

Doctors can fraudulently apply billing codes for transgender mutilations

by Susan Quinn

How many years have we been discussing these abominable transgender treatments on children? And how long have doctors insisted on practicing them, in spite of all the evidence condemning them?

A recent report from the medical watchdog group Do No Harm explains the latest abuses in the medical community, revealing how medical codes can be misapplied in order to reap the profits of “transgender care.” Their behavior is especially abhorrent, because they’re administering these treatments to children, who have enough stress in their pre-teen and teen years without “experts” promoting gender dysphoria to them. These procedures are so sufficiently despicable that many states have banned them for children. To date, 27 states have passed policies and imposed penalties on doctors who provide children with “gender-affirming care.”

The report lists the red flags for doctors trying to disguise what they are doing:

The report identifies eight codes that may be the most likely to hide child ‘transition’ interventions from insurers and regulators, including hypopituitarism, other primary ovarian failure, testicular hypofunction, precocious puberty, other specified endocrine disorders, unspecified endocrine disorder, hormone replacement therapy, and hypertrophy of breast.

Activist organizations continue to feed the frenzy by encouraging doctors to pursue these interventions, and provide information on how to manipulate the medical codes. Those offending groups include WPATH, Planned Parenthood of Southeastern Pennsylvania, the Campaign for Southern Equality, and QueerDoc.

Providing “gender-affirming care” (GAC) treatments can be quite lucrative, ranging from $5,000 for facial surgery to $50,000 for a phalloplasty; there can be additional charges for using a facility, pathology reports, and anesthesia. When weighing the financial benefits against the ethical costs, some doctors find the temptation too great.

The federal government tried to put pressure on doctors to discourage them from treating children:

In social media posts Monday, the FBI and its chief spokesperson asked for tips on ‘any hospitals or clinics who break the law and mutilate children under the guise of ‘gender affirming care.’

But experts say the FBI’s new push isn’t backed up by federal law and may only be intended to scare medical practitioners away from offering those services.

Still, the federal government is taking steps to make practicing these procedures less beneficial for the doctors. HHS is working on defunding hospitals who use these interventions with children under 18, as well as stopping Medicaid funds that have been given to the states for these procedures. In addition, HHS published a report that stated that there was no justification for chemically castrating children or mutilating their genitals on the basis of mental illness.

HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. also identified another approach to stopping these treatments:

Using statutory authority under 42 CFR 1001.2, which allows the HHS secretary to declare a treatment modality not to be safe and effective, Kennedy will sign a document stating that practitioners who employ ‘gender transition’ interventions as a treatment modality ‘will be deemed not to meet professionally recognized standards of health care,’ another HHS official stated.

Until the punishments are harsher, some doctors will continue to evade the law, while other organizations will try to stop them:

Do No Harm has done extensive work and continues to actively work toward establishing distinct medical diagnosis codes for gender transition, desistance, and detransition. This new report urges payors and regulators, particularly in the states that have legislation restricting such interventions on minors, to remain vigilant of the misuse of ICD-10 codes.

The more we publicize this abhorrent practice, the greater opportunities we will have to protect our children.

Democrat party embraces Graham Platner

 by Monty Donohew

In late April 2026, Maine Governor Janet Mills suspended her campaign for the Democratic U.S. Senate nomination, effectively handing the race to Graham Platner, a 41-year-old Marine veteran and purported oyster farmer.

Platner now stands as the presumptive Democrat nominee against incumbent Republican Sen. Susan Collins.

The development itself is unremarkable in the rough-and-tumble of primary politics.

What demands scrutiny is not the candidate’s past, but the cognitive mechanism by which that past has been processed, reframed, and ultimately laundered by his party.

Platner acquired a prominent chest tattoo in 2007 while on leave in Croatia with fellow Marines. The image, a skull and crossbones, matches the Totenkopf, the death’s-head emblem of Hitler’s SS, the organization that orchestrated the Holocaust.

The Anti-Defamation League classifies it as a hate symbol.

Platner initially insisted he had no idea of its Nazi connotations, describing it as a generic military motif chosen in a drunken haze. He covered the tattoo only after it became a campaign issue in October 2025.

Subsequent reporting, including CNN’s K-File investigation and accounts from acquaintances, revealed Reddit posts and private references suggesting long-standing awareness — he had reportedly called it “my Totenkopf.” Platner attributed the choice and his earlier rhetoric to post-deployment trauma and the “hyper-masculine, hyper-violent” culture of the infantry.

Unearthed Reddit posts from 2013 to 2021 compound the picture: self-identification as a “communist,” endorsement of “all cops are bastards,” homophobic slurs, racially insensitive remarks on Black tipping habits, suggestions that women bear responsibility for sexual assault if they get “so f****ed-up,” and apparent tolerance for political violence.

Platner has not denied authorship. He has apologized, framing the material as the product of anger, loneliness, and crude barracks humor from a “darker time.” Platner professes personal growth

These are objective facts. In a healthy political community committed to shared epistemic standards, evidence-based judgment, consistent application of moral criteria, and a common vocabulary for evaluating character, these facts would be disqualifying for high office, regardless of party.

Yet the Democrat response has been swift consolidation. Progressives such as Senators Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren endorsed early. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, the DSCC, and Kirsten Gillibrand pivoted to support Platner. Sen. Chris Van Hollen offered the familiar refrain that people deserve second chances. Sen. John Fetterman dissented sharply, observing sarcastically that “Republicans f****ing love him” and questioning whether Maine wanted “an a**hole with a Nazi tattoo on his chest.” Even CNN’s Abby Phillip pressed surrogates on the party’s “varying enthusiasm,” posing the epistemic test:

“Now, if this were a Republican candidate who had had a Nazi tattoo, covered it up when he was running for something and had said all the things that he had said about Black people, about women, about rape, etcetera. Do you really think there’s a world in which Democrats would be like, ‘Let’s just let bygones be bygones? That’s the past, today’s the present?’”

This is not ordinary hypocrisy.

Hypocrisy presupposes acceptance of the same standards one violates. What we witness in the Platner episode is something deeper, more profound, and far more corrosive: tribal epistemology, the systematic replacement of shared principles of reason, evidence, and moral consistency with partisan identity as the primary filter for judgment.

In this framework, the same symbols, statements, and patterns of behavior are not evaluated on their intrinsic content but on whether the actor advances the tribe’s narrative and opposes the designated enemy. A Totenkopf tattoo worn for nearly two decades, Reddit rhetoric endorsing communism and victim-blaming on assault, these become negotiable “youthful indiscretions” or “trauma responses” when the bearer is a progressive insurgent challenging a Republican incumbent. The identical record affixed to a conservative would be proof of irredeemable extremism, stochastic terrorism, and fascist contagion.

The consequences are dire. When moral and epistemic standards become purely relational, when “Nazi” ceases to denote a coherent ideology or historical atrocity and functions instead as a tribal exclusionary label, language itself loses referential power. Truth dissolves into power. Redemption is granted not through repentance measured against objective criteria but as a sacrament of in-group loyalty. The public square fragments into incompatible realities, each tribe inhabiting its own facts, its own vocabulary, its own hierarchy of sins.

Freedom is the first sacrifice on the altar of identity politics. When words like “extremism,” “fascism,” and “threat to democracy” become weapons deployed solely against the out-group, the rule of law erodes, institutions lose legitimacy, and the social contract frays into open tribal warfare. What remains is not deliberation but domination; not persuasion but cancellation and de-humanization; not a common good but a perpetual contest for narrative supremacy.

Democracy is second sacrifice; voters cannot choose wisely if political judgment is reduced to team affiliation rather than reasoned assessment. Democracy requires informed choice, and not merely identification and self-actualization through membership.  Hollowed out choices are meaningless, and result in neither better governance nor a more capable electorate.

Civilization itself is the final sacrificial lamb on the altar.  A republic cannot remain cohesive, stable, or strong without a minimal shared epistemology: the capacity of citizens and institutions to apply consistent standards of evidence, character, and desert. Without civilization, there is no protection for freedom, and room for ideals like democracy.  Barbarism becomes the power, the force, the means of acquiring, building, retaining, and surviving. Tribalism, historically, is a step away from barbarism, a step forward to civilization. But in the fall of a civilization, it is the last grasp for order

Platner’s ascent is a warning of imminent decline, a symptom of a republic in epistemic crisis. The Democratic Party that once positioned itself as a guardian against authoritarianism reveals that its anti-fascism was never a principled stance against symbols or ideas; it was performative signaling curated to tribal purpose. The same cognitive distortion that launders a Totenkopf for one of their own is the mirror image of the distortion that once branded ordinary citizens as domestic terrorists. Both reflect the same underlying fallacy: the subordination of reason to identity.

Maine voters will render their verdict in November. For the nation, the Platner episode offers a clarifying warning. If even a literal Nazi-adjacent symbol and a documented record of inflammatory rhetoric can be laundered "rationally" through partisan membership, then the shared foundations of American self-government have already crumbled. Civilization, democracy, and freedom do not survive when truth itself becomes tribal property.

The altar of identity politics will demand ever-larger sacrifices.

Unless we recover a commitment to common standards of reason and character, standards that apply without regard to tribal identity, the republic will not long endure.
