Yemen’s assistant defense minister said Monday that a decision had been made to retake Sanaa from the Houthis, Al Jazeera reported.
“The decision has been made to liberate Sanaa,” the official said, adding that this would “settle the matter.” No further details were provided.
The Houthis have controlled Sanaa since 2015. Fighting between the group and Yemeni government forces has intensified sharply this summer
