Iran targets maritime facility in Manama, Bahrain

Iran struck a maritime facility near Salman Port in Manama, the country's Ministry of the Interior revealed on Sunday.

The strike caused a fire in the area. "Civil Defense carries out procedures to control the fire," the Ministry's statement read. Furthermore, the Ministry announced that Khalifa bin Salman Bridge is closed in both directions, adding that "Motorists are requested to follow traffic instructions for everyone's safety."

Earlier today, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed that United States President Donald Trump spoke to the Bahraini head of state amid the ongoing Middle East crisis.

Iran lists seven generals killed in strikes

Iran-backed media reported that Tehran has identified seven senior commanders killed in US and Israeli air strikes, adding to a growing list of officials described as "martyrs" in Iranian accounts.

Tasnim News Agency said the names were published in a second notice by the Foundation for the Preservation of Sacred Defense and Resistance Values. E3 warns Iran after missile strikes on region

The leaders of France, Germany, and the United Kingdom said on Sunday they were "appalled" by what they called Iran's indiscriminate and disproportionate missile attacks on countries across the Middle East and warned they could respond with further defensive steps.

"We call on Iran to stop these reckless attacks immediately. We will take steps to defend our interests and those of our allies in the region, potentially through enabling necessary and proportionate defensive action to destroy Iran's capability to fire missiles and drones at their source," the statement read.

The warning came as the region reels from a rapid escalation since the US and Israel launched strikes on Iran and Tehran retaliated with waves of missiles and drones.

Araghchi: Iran has no plans to shut Strait of Hormuz

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated on Sunday that his country does not currently aim to seal off the Strait of Hormuz. Speaking exclusively to Al Jazeera, the diplomat stressed that authorities in Tehran have no intention of taking measures that would impede maritime movement through the strategic corridor "at this moment."

The waterway serves as a crucial conduit for approximately 20% of global oil shipments. Any interference would have serious consequences for worldwide energy supplies.

Earlier Sunday, the Palau-flagged tanker Skylight came under attack near Khasab port along the strait, according to Omani authorities. Four crew members sustained injuries, and all 20 personnel aboard were safely evacuated.

US denies IRGC claim of attack on carrier Lincoln

The Pentagon on Sunday rejected Iranian claims that its forces hit the USS Abraham Lincoln with four ballistic missiles. "Iran's IRGC claims to have struck USS Abraham Lincoln with ballistic missiles. LIE," US Central Command said.

Minutes after the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announcement, the command said the vessel sustained no damage, with the projectiles falling short of their target. In addition, it confirmed flight operations continue uninterrupted as part of the ongoing mission to counter Iranian strikes.

"The Lincoln was not hit. The missiles launched didn't even come close," it stressed.

Hegseth bans military from attending Princeton, Columbia, other elite Us: ‘Wokeness and weakness’

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth on Friday said he was ordering the “complete and immediate cancellation” of all Department of War attendants at universities like Princeton, Columbia, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Brown and Yale, starting with the 2026-27 academic year.

Hegseth added that the ban would also include “many others,” claiming the higher education system has been “poisoned from within from a class of so-called elite universities who’ve abused their privilege and access to this department and utterly betrayed their purpose.”

Hegseth’s announcement comes after he similarly banned active-duty service members earlier this month from attending Harvard starting next year.

He accused the universities of gorging themselves for decades on a “trust fund of American taxpayer dollars only to become factories of anti-American resentment and military disdain.”

He claimed the universities had replaced “the study of victory and pragmatic realism with the promotion of wokeness and weakness.”

“This is not education, this is indoctrination,” he added.

“The Department of War is finished subsidizing the corruption of our own in uniform class,” he said. “We’re done paying for the privilege of our enemies’ wicked ideologies to be taught to our future leaders. We’ve had enough.”

“We cannot and will not send our most capable officers, senior officers, into graduate programs that undermine the very values they have sworn to uphold.”

Hegseth added that the department would also hold itself accountable, starting with a top-to-bottom review of “our own internal war colleges, ensuring they are once again bastions of strategic thought, wholly dedicated to the singular mission of developing the most lethal and effective leaders and war fighters the world has ever known.”
